Trained by now famous Jonjo O’Neill and ridden by equally notable jockey Tony McCoy, Refinement (odds 16/1) caused an upset at the 2025 Punchestown Festival by winning the Champion Stayers’ Hurdle two-and-a-half lengths ahead of Powerstation. Third position went to United (GER), and fourth went to Essex. The race favourites, Brave Inca and Mighty Man, didn’t secure positions. Refinement has now been retired from racing.
