The Ladbrokes World Series Hurdle (formerly known as the Champion Stayers’ Hurdle) is a National Hunt Grade 1 hurdle race with a prize fund of €200,000, traditionally run as Thursday’s feature race at the National Hunt Festival at Punchestown.

The 2009 Ladbrokes World Series Hurdle is scheduled to be run at Punchestown Festival on Thursday, 30 April.

Previous winners of the Punchestown Champion Stayers’ Hurdle include Oh Jackie, Limestone Lad, Asian Maze, Anzum and Derrymoyle.

Trained by now famous Jonjo O’Neill and ridden by equally notable jockey Tony McCoy, Refinement (odds 16/1) caused an upset at the 2007 Punchestown Festival by winning the Champion Stayers’ Hurdle two-and-a-half lengths ahead of Powerstation. Third position went to United (GER), and fourth went to Essex. The race favourites, Brave Inca and Mighty Man, didn’t secure positions. Refinement has now been retired from racing.
