The British contingent at the 2008 Punchestown Festival picked up their third feature race win in as many days yesterday, as Blazing Bailey followed up his win in the Aintree Hurdle to take the Punchestown World Hurdle.
Blazing Bailey’s win in the 2008 Punchestown World Hurdle was welcomed by his trainer Alan King, who was overjoyed by his horse’s determined run, which saw him lose and regain the lead in the final stretch of the race.
King praised Blazing Bailey: “He’s never let me down all the way through. There’ll be greater stayers around, but he’s a pretty good horse. This was a special day and he’s my first winner at Punchestown.”
The British racing teams picked up another win at the 2008 Punchestown Festival yesterday as Ferdie Murphy claimed the AON Hurdle with Kalahari King. There is every chance that an English horse will claim another major race today, with Punjabi fancied to take the ACC Bank Champion Hurdle.
Meanwhile Ruby Walsh looks almost certain to take the Irish Champion Jockey title after both he and his main title rival Davy Russell each picked up a single win yesterday, leaving Walsh 7 wins clear of Russell in the race for the title .
